I have been meaning to hop on here and give some updates but it has been BUSY around here. Well, that's only partially true. It has been busy, and let's be real, I've been lazy. I forgot how tired you are in early pregnancy!! My to-do list is a mile long, but I'm just doing what I can and being okay with it. :)
So, first up, the baby. All is good on the surrogacy front! I'm now just about 12 weeks along. We had an ultrasound just after Christmas, which was great. Brad was off of work so he was able to be there with me, but unfortunately we had Skype issues, which prevented the Intended Fathers (IF's) from joining us. My coordinator at the fertility clinic took a video of the ultrasound though, so they were still able to see it afterwards.
Blood work showed that my hormone levels were good, which meant I got to stop progesterone shots! December 27th was my first day since starting meds on October 8th that I didn't have an injection! I was put on a schedule to taper off the rest of my meds, with my last shot taking place on January 7th. I was a wee bit giddy about it being the LAST one!
Another positive: I am starting to see a bit of my energy coming back, and the all-day morning sickness has settled into a night-sickness, and even that is getting to be less now. I think this is due to nearly being done with the first trimester, and I really don't think the meds were doing me any favors either. I could tell a difference as I reduced the amounts and even more now that I'm off of them completely. Either way, whether due to the meds or the 12-week mark, I'm about to leave the worst part of pregnancy in the dust.
Now we are moving on to planning the IF's next visit, which will take place in March. We can't wait for them to get here! They're only going to be here for a few days, but we'll try to squeeze in what we can. We have the ultrasound scheduled and we're really excited to find out if it's a boy or a girl!
Just after New Year's we took a little trip to Leavenworth, WA. Since we didn't go to Minnesota for Christmas this year, we wanted to have a getaway with the kids, preferably somewhere with snow. I was freezing the whole time, but Leavenworth was beautiful! It is the picture of an adorable Hallmark-movie town. It is Bavarian-themed and was completely decked out in lights. The kids had a great time, even our sweet foster baby, who loved looking at the lights & all the people. The kids loved ice skating, exploring the village, and interacting with reindeer! It was a nice mini escape!
Well I am off; baby girl has a medical appointment in Portland so it's time to hit the road. Have a wonderful week!!
