I love Thanksgiving! It's always been my favorite holiday, probably because it encompasses three things I'm really passionate about: family, food, and being thankful! I strongly believe there is always a silver lining (even if sometimes it's really hidden) and that being grateful for the things in your life makes you a happier person.
So, the news of the day! Well, really the news of yesterday, but I haven't had a moment to hop on here until now.
I had to go to a lab about 30 minutes away to have my blood draw yesterday, which would check three things: my beta HCG level (read: pregnancy hormone), my estradiol level, and my progesterone level. The beta would tell us if the embryo stuck, and the hormone levels are important because if there is a pregnancy then we need to make sure the hormones are right to sustain it.
Since the IF's (intended fathers) are in France and 9 hours ahead of us, I went to the lab as soon as it opened at 7:30am. I was hoping we would get the results at a good time for them, but it proved to be a long wait. I checked in with the clinic late in the afternoon, reminding them of the time difference and that the guys were waiting up for the news, and a little bit later we got our news...
So what does this mean?? I'M PREGNANT!!!
The email stated, "The pregnancy test is positive today! The beta HCG level is at 162. This is a great starting level as we typically want to see the level around 50 or above."
Woo hoo!! So we were all super excited to get this update! Next up, I go back for another set of labs tomorrow. This is important to see if the pregnancy is sustaining; we want that number -162- to about double by tomorrow. This shows us it's a viable pregnancy. So fingers crossed for a high number tomorrow! There are no guarantees at this point, so all we can do is remain cautiously optimistic.
Well, I'm off to the kitchen. We are having a cozy Thanksgiving at home, filled with food and movies and family time. And lots and lots of remembering that there is so much to be thankful for.
